From the benefits of multi-sport participation at youth level to the importance of having the right support team behind you, Dr. Liam delves into the background and occurrences that led Davey to his 11/0/8 career.
We had the pleasure of meeting Davey Oliver Joyce today and here at Setanta College we are incredibly proud of his achievements to date.
With his WBO European Champion belt in hand, the amateur turned professional boxer has his sights set, with the support of his team and coach Pete Taylor, on a World Boxing Title.
He has had a fascinating journey to date, in his conversation he describes his early involvement in Handball, winning an All-Ireland title under 12 and at the same time going on to win his first of 19 national titles in boxing at age 12, also.
His journey to Athy from his home in Mullingar to train 4 evenings each week continued throughout his formative years and has proved invaluable to his athletic development. Significantly, Davey has shown huge commitment on a daily basis over several years and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.
I will leave the description of his on-going journey to the man himself, WBO European Featherweight Champion, Olympian, Multi-National Title Winner.. Davey Oliver Joyce.
