This is a 10-month course. Diploma in Personal Training and Strength & Conditioning is a QQI Level 6 qualification. Each of the three modules provides a comprehensive overview of key areas and topics within Personal Training and Strength & Conditioning, with enrolments now open.

This 18 month course is regarded as the industry standard for specialist Strength and Conditioning coaches. The Certificate in Strength and Conditioning is a QQI Level 6 (60 credit) qualification. Each of the six modules provides a comprehensive overview of key areas and topics within Strength and Conditioning, with enrolments now open.

The BSc degree course is comprised of 6 additional modules bringing the undergraduate total to 18 modules. The Bachelor of Science in Strength and Conditioning has now become a global industry–leading sports coaching qualification. It is equivalent to NQF Level 7 and awards students 180 ECTS credits.
It takes 18 months to complete our part-time, blended learning programme after completing the Certificate, Higher Certificate, and Diploma stages. In total, the part-time commitment to securing the BSc degree is approximately 4.5 years.

*This qualification is awarded by Setanta through their EU accreditation by Quality Qualifications Ireland (QQI). It consists of an internationally recognised university-level award, the BSc in Strength & Conditioning. This programme carries 180 ECTS credits awarded at Level 7 on the Irish framework of qualifications (equivalent to Level 6 on the UK framework).
There is no automatic entry on to the MSc in Performance Coaching programme.
Candidates may be accepted onto the programme with a 2.1 degree in any one of the following:
Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy, Athletic Training or a similar field of study and at least three years relevant professional experience
OR
An appropriate professional qualification (such as CSCS, UKSCA) and at least five years of relevant experience
OR
Special Case Registrations: prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should apply to the College Administrator for consideration. An interview may form part of the selection process for all application routes.
English proficiency to be demonstrated through any of the following:
– GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
– IELTS with an average overall score of 6.5 for postgraduate study with at least a 5.5 in each component TOEFL IBT minimum score of 88 IBT for Postgraduate **
– Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 176 for postgraduate study with at least 162 in each component; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill for undergraduate and postgraduate
– Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE III Pass for postgraduate taught courses and research applications City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests at expert and mastery levels (C2 and C1) for the majority of postgraduate programmes
– Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 67 points in each element for the majority of postgraduate programmes

There is no automatic entry on to the MSc in Sports Injuries and Return to Performance Management.
Candidates may be accepted onto the programme with a bachelor’s degree or above in any one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in the area of human rehabilitation. This would include areas such as physiotherapy, physical therapy, biokinetics, sports therapy, athletic training, athletic therapy, chiropractic, etc.
- A bachelor’s degree in the broad area of sport and exercise sciences. This would include areas such as strength and conditioning, physical education, biomechanics, kinesiology, etc.
- If the applicant has a bachelor’s degree in a non-cognate discipline, it may be necessary for the applicant to complete such bridging modules as the Admissions Office deems necessary in order to achieve the prerequisite intended learning outcomes for participation in the program. The length of this bridging program depends on the number of prerequisite learning outcomes achieved by the applicant but normally will not exceed the duration of one year.

There is no automatic entry on to the MSc in Applied Sports Biomechanics and Movement Science.
The minimum entry requirements for all post-graduate programs are:
- An undergraduate degree in a cognate area.
- And currently (at the time of application and for the duration of the program) being involved in some aspect of sport, exercise or physical activity coaching.
- Or an undergraduate degree in a non-cognate area and demonstrated relevant professional experience in a related area or field of practice to the main area of study.
- Relevant professional experience includes recognition of prior learning for applicants without an undergraduate degree. See Relevant Professional Experience below.
- And a personal statement outlining the relevant professional experience and their motivation for pursuing the course of study and how this aligns with their future career goals.
- In certain instances, at the discretion of the course director, an additional written submission may be required of a maximum of up to 500 words. This may take the format of a written submission demonstrating the applicant’s ability to cope with the academic demands of the course. Options include: an assignment set by the course director, or a composition from the applicant’s undergraduate degree. Other options to assess an applicant’s suitability where the applicant possesses a non-cognate degree or no undergraduate degree include an oral interview. It is the College’s intention to ensure that where such additional submissions or an interview is required, that such requirements are arranged within two working days of the applicant’s completed application being submitted.
- Applicants are expected to be active coaches or have an extensive coaching background. Whilst this can be a on a full time, paid basis, part time and voluntary coaching is equally applicable.

All QQI accredited programmes of education and training of 3 months or longer duration are covered by arrangements under section 65 (4) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 whereby, in the event of the provider ceasing to provide the programme for any reason, enrolled learners may transfer to a similar programme at another provider, or, in the event that this is not practicable, the fees most recently paid will be refunded.
